Dr. Hanif Chatur founded the Beyond ADHD Program™ with a mission inspired by his own family's struggles to access timely mental health care. Witnessing firsthand the challenges of navigating complex systems and finding the proper support, especially as his children moved across the country, Dr. Chatur was driven to create a national program.
The Beyond ADHD Program™ offers comprehensive mental health support that not only addresses ADHD but also meets the broader mental health needs of its patients. By prioritizing accessible, compassionate, and continuous care, the program empowers individuals and families with the resources and support they need for long-term well-being.

Beyond ADHD’s virtual platform already serves over 12,800 patients. By 2022, the company was growing rapidly and the founder wanted to improve its platform so that it could be adapted for a partnership with a healthcare insurer. Dr. Chatur identified a perfect fit with the Digital Boost 3.0 program, a digital adoption program that helps New Brunswick businesses implement new technology solutions.
Digital Boost 3.0 has a two-phase approach, the first consisting of a comprehensive assessment to determine current capabilities and identify opportunities in the areas of cybersecurity, data management, and artificial intelligence (AI). The second phase supports the implementation of solutions identified during the assessment phase to improve the company's productivity, security risk, and innovation. Digital Boost 3.0 offers funding support to offset some of the costs while working with local technology providers. This program enabled Beyond ADHD to partner with service provider Second Spring Digital to mature the clinic.
The Digital Boost 3.0 program began with the assessment phase and this work done with Second Spring Digital uncovered both short and long-term opportunities with cyber, data, and AI. They used a pyramid approach, looking first at cybersecurity, deep data analysis and automation, and then culminating in a thoughtful examination of AI. The service provider began with a cybersecurity assessment to ensure the clinic's compliance with the standards of a fiduciary relationship with patients, but also with data collection, which was an important element in being able to better understand ADHD patients and meet their needs.
Through the Digital Boost 3.0 program, Second Spring Digital’s founder and CEO Scott MacIntosh stepped in to help the clinic comply with the security and regulatory requirements of partnering with an enterprise-level customer. Second Spring Digital created a plan to guide Beyond ADHD towards attracting more patients online, creating more bookings, innovating with technology and ultimately improving the practice results.
After prioritizing the recommendations from the assessment phase, the implementation phase focused on adapting the Beyond ADHD platform so that it would be conducive to partnering with a major healthcare insurer in the province. This potential partnership required maturing the platform in terms of cybersecurity, datafication, automation, and AI. To be able to retrieve data on a large scale, Second Spring Digital worked to install an automated program with the Microsoft 365 Power Suite tool that powers advanced automation and AI processes.
The implementation project focused on an automation and AI project called “Am I Covered” to streamline the highly manual process of confirming member coverage via the incoming insurance partner. One particular concern among potential users is uncertainty regarding the extent of their insurance coverage. The “Am I Covered” feature allows users to virtually connect with a health care insurer to answer their questions and then proceed to book an appointment, without the user having to speak to anyone. This involved developing robotic process automation to ensure that the machine does manually what a human being would have done and generates this data to inform the patient of their coverage. Beyond ADHD is on track to be a pioneer in deploying robotic process automation to adjudicate insurance claims for neurodivergent patterns without the need for additional employees, allowing for a more efficient and scalable solution.
