To help individuals advance their careers, the Ottawa Chinese Community Service Centre, in partnership with Lighthouse Labs, is offering transformative essential skills training courses on teamwork, collaboration, communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking in the workplace.

This training is available at no cost to eligible applicants thanks to the ICT Boost Initiative - a program funded in part by the Government of Canada’s Sectoral Workforce Solutions Program (SWSP).

Eligible participants must be:
- Minimum of 18 years of age
- Currently residing in Canada
- A Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or a person who has been granted refugee status in Canada
- Legally entitled to work in Canada (According to the relevant provincial and federal legislation and regulations)

Job seekers regularly pitch their skills to employers. Learn how to create a 4-5 presentation pitch that promotes your skills and knowledge. Graduates of their class have appreciated learning about structure and hooks, effective sentence tone and stress, and the opportunity to get to breakout rooms to get some hands-on practice. Join this highly actionable training to boost your public speaking and persuasion competence.

In this course, participants will:
- Create an effective presentation hook that draws the audience's attention
- Use a logical structure for organizing data in a presentation
- Include varied free, no-attribution-needed visuals to add interest to presentations
- Work in 2-3 person teams to build 4-5 minute presentations
- Enhance spoken communication through effective breathing, as well as sentence tone and stress

Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a certificate.
