Emotional intelligence: Enhancing Workplace Relationships

To help individuals advance their careers, the Ottawa Chinese Community Service Centre, in partnership with Lighthouse Labs, is offering transformative essential skills training courses on teamwork, collaboration, communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking in the workplace.

This training is available at no cost to eligible applicants thanks to the ICT Boost Initiative - a program funded in part by the Government of Canada’s Sectoral Workforce Solutions Program (SWSP).

Eligible participants must be:
- Minimum of 18 years of age
- Currently residing in Canada
- A Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or a person who has been granted refugee status in Canada
- Legally entitled to work in Canada (According to the relevant provincial and federal legislation and regulations)

Starting a new job, meeting new people, and setting expectations in the workplace call are all very challenging and scary concepts. This course helps you to understand and manage your own emotions as well as recognize and interact successfully with the emotions of others. Whether you have a job already or are moving through the search and interview process, this course will bring valuable knowledge to your ability to interact successfully with others.

In this course, participants will:
- Discuss the four components of emotional intelligence
- Critically evaluate a self-assessment of emotional intelligence
- Gauge key aspects of empathy
- Roleplay emotional intelligence in action in a job interview
- Resist the urge to give advice when colleagues undergo difficult circumstances

Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a certificate.
