Opportunity Alert: UNB Continues to Seek Summer 2024 Co-op Positions for Students

The University of New Brunswick (UNB) is calling on employers to open their doors to co-op students for the summer of 2024. Despite the first round of hiring, over 75 Computer Science and Software Engineering co-op students from UNB are still searching for summer positions. These eager learners are available for employment durations of 4, 8, 12, or 16 months starting this May.
Employers interested in tapping into this young talent can easily post job opportunities through the UNB co-op portal at https://experience.unb.ca/home/home.htm. Alternatively, job postings can be emailed directly to the co-op office, where they will be included in the job booklet for students to access.
In a bid to streamline the hiring process, UNB has adopted a continuous hiring approach, meaning there's no ranking or matching system. Instead, positions are filled on a first-come-first-served basis, offering a fast track for both students and employers to find their perfect match.
To further incentivize employers, UNB has highlighted several funding programs available to assist with the hiring of co-op students:
- FutureNB: Offering support, including for VISA students, this program is detailed at https://www.futurenewbrunswick.ca/.
- Government of Canada Student Work Placement Program (SWPP): This program provides wage subsidies but is limited to Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents. - Mitacs Business Strategy Internship (BSI) Program: Suitable for all students, this program offers $10,000 or $15,000 per intern for a four-month project with a partner organization in Canada. Further details are available at https://www.mitacs.ca/en/programs/business-strategy-internship#business.
