At the second annual Oceanfest event at Startup Fest, Canada’s Ocean Supercluster (OSC) and its partners announced Phase 3 of the Ocean Startup Project. With a total project value of $8,020,000, OSC is providing $5 million in funding, alongside contributions from the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), Mitacs, and various industry partners.
Launched in 2020, the Ocean Startup Project brought together regional incubators and accelerators across Atlantic Canada to support new and early-stage ocean companies. Now with a pan-Canadian focus, the project has supported over 155 new ocean ventures and was named a top accelerator in North America by Startup Genome in 2023.
Led by the New Brunswick Innovation Foundation and other partners, the initiative aims to make Canada the best place to start and grow an ocean company. The project supports the broader ambition of the OSC to grow the ocean economy significantly by 2035.
