On May 29th, TechImpact attended the Partners in Education Summit hosted by the New Brunswick Department of Education and Early Childhood Development at the Delta Brunswick Hotel by Marriott in Saint John. The event celebrated the collaborative efforts and achievements of many New Brunswick businesses and organizations engaging with students to help them see the career opportunities and potential in New Brunswick, among other things.
We are proud of our partnership with the Centre of Excellence for Digital Innovation led by Adam Binet. At TechImpact, we are committed to working with partners and educational institutions to build a technology talent pipeline. We have seen first-hand the impacts that can be made when attending community events like those held at Fundy Middle and High School in St. George and through delivering TechImpact’s Step UP Program for high school girls. This program introduces them to workplace skills, mentors in STEM, and training as they evaluate what path they want to pursue for post-secondary education. Recently, we also spoke at the AI in Education Think Tank Event led by EECD, where educators, administrators, industry groups, and business and tech leaders came together to discuss the future of AI and its implications for education, the economy, and our ways of living, learning, and working. It was a day of learning and knowledge transfer about technologies like cybersecurity and AI that will transform the skills required in the future workplace.
Our work in the K-12 arena also takes us to events such as participating in industry panels with TechImpact member companies at the NB High School Coding Competition at UNBSJ, where we were able to share insights about the future of technology careers. We have been fortunate to work with Adam Binet and the EECD team on the Centre of Excellence Strategies vision. It takes a village to make an impact, and by creating pathways for students, collaborating with educational leaders, and creating opportunities for them, we can nurture and fuel the talent pipeline. These Centres of Excellence for Education are about collaboration and are crucial for fostering innovation, excellence in education, and student and industry engagement.
The event was a wonderful opportunity to connect and celebrate experiential learning. It reminds us why this work and the partnerships we create are so important for New Brunswick’s digital economy.
